mark your calendar

Timing is everything!
Save yourself tons of stress by putting important dates in your calendar as soon as you can. Here’s a 3-step strategy.

First: before each term starts, spend 20 minutes transferring key school deadlines into your calendar. Here are some places to start:

  • academic: first and last day of classes, midterms, finals, holidays
  • registration: first day to register for next term; when advising for next term starts; deadlines for making schedule changes like dropping, adding, withdrawing, or changing your grade option (from letter grade to pass/fail or vice versa)
  • financial: when to pay your college bill, FAFSA deadline

Second: when you get your syllabi, transfer all the key dates and deadlines for each class into your calendar.

Third: once you’ve gotten the mandatory stuff down, look for other kinds of events, like performances and speakers, career fairs, or wellness workshops. These “bonus” events might feel like extra, but they can be life-changing.
