meet coach Iman

“I became a coach to become the source of help that I needed during my undergraduate experience.”

1
about me

I’m originally from Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Vanderbilt University, where I studied African American and diaspora studies. I also hold a master’s degree in human relations from the University of Oklahoma.

My all time favorite hobby is listening to music. It seems a bit cliché but there’s nothing like putting my AirPods in and shuffling through my music library for hours at a time. Besides music, I also enjoy cooking, painting, and spending time with my nephew. He’s 2 and full of energy so chasing him around is a great source of joy and cardio!

2
why I’m a college coach

Step body text goes hI wanted to become a coach to provide a source of support for students like me. Having a college degree opens up so many opportunities in our country and unfortunately, many students don’t feel they’re equipped to handle the experience. Although I wasn’t a first generation student, there were still so many things about the college experience that I wasn’t aware of and didn’t know how to handle on my own. I became a coach to become the source of help that I needed during my undergraduate experience.

my advice for you

First of all, never be afraid to ask for help! One of the best parts of college can be the community that you build around you. This could be as simple as reaching out to your friends when you need support or asking your professors for extensions or extra help.

You’d be surprised at how many people want to help you! It’s important to remember that most times help is not freely offered so if you don’t ask, you may miss out.

Second, believing in yourself is one of the most important things for college success. Many students struggle with stereotype threat and imposter syndrome, but just remember – you were accepted at that college for a reason. You chose to go to college for a reason. It may take hard work and resilience, but once your foot is in the door the only person that can stop you is you. Manifest success!
