1
about me

I was born in Michigan, and grew up in Los Angeles, California. I attended and transferred from Santa Monica College in 2023 to UC Berkeley, where I graduated in 2025 with a major in African American Studies and Gender & Women’s Studies. While in community college I spent a significant amount of time as a student advocate and helped develop my college’s Student Equity Center. While at UC Berkeley, I mentored students hoping to attend the university through their applications.

In other aspects of my life, I enjoy all creative endeavors whether it be digital or traditional art, knitting, weaving, or ceramics, and I love discovering new music!

2
why I’m a college coach

I am a college coach because I have a personal commitment to helping others and uplifting my community. “Education is the one thing that no one can take away from you, once you have it” is a phrase passed down to me by my mother’s side and this value has informed my educational journey and it comes from my lineage. I am not the first in my family to attend college, but I still struggled in many ways, through food and housing insecurity, instability in my life and lack of a support system. Because of these struggles I found ways and people to help me through and who believed that no matter what I was going through, I could still come out the other side achieving my goals. I want to be that person for others. I believe that it is the duty of those who made it through to continue to make the path easier and more accessible, and being a college coach is one way to ensure that. I love working with students and helping them embrace their dreams wholeheartedly.

2
my advice for you

My biggest advice is to find the people, spaces, activities that ground you. College is an overwhelming place, period. There is constant flux and swell of information presented to you and it can feel like getting lost in the sea of offerings and opportunities and experience. When you find where you feel centered, who you feel affirms you, whether that be friends, a family member, a mentor, a professor or even a pet or online community, those are the people who help to remind you of what you’re here for, and that you are more than just a college student. You have a large array of talents, skills, life to you including hobbies, interests that bring richness to your college life. Don’t stifle those aspects of yourself or those connections. Embrace them because they will help life to not feel dull!
